Freedman Quoted in Law360 Regarding Trends for Shareholder Activism in 2016

Firm News

Olshan Activist Co-Head Andrew Freedman was quoted extensively as an expert in a Law360 article discussing upcoming trends and issues that can be expected for the 2016 activist season. Freedman explains that shareholder activism will again feature prominently this proxy season, noting that “We will continue to see proxy access proposals, and we will see them trickle down to mainstream midcap companies….We'll see executive compensation issues, and we'll see governance issues, but shareholder activism is again going to play a pivotal role in the 2016 proxy season.” As far as the type of shareholder activism to expect in 2016, Freedman notes that, "We'll see proxy contests in situations where investors have lost confidence in senior management due to prolonged underperformance and where the campaign serves as a referendum on the need for new senior leadership,” zoning in on the fact that activists will zero in on CEO performance.
