Olshan Chair of Litigation Lori Marks-Esterman will participate in a panel discussion at The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School’s ILE Chancery Court Program for a class entitled “Advanced Topics in Corporate Law” on March 18, 2025. The panel, “Shareholder Activism: When the Best Offense is a Good Defense,” will be moderated by Jill E. Fisch, Saul A. Fox Distinguished Professor of Business Law, University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, in which Lori will be joined by the Honorable Lori W. Will, Delaware Court of Chancery; Eduardo Gallardo, Paul Hastings, LLP; Mark Lebovitch, University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School; and Michael Maggi, Elliott Investment Management, L.P. The lecture will explore if activism is good or bad for corporations and shareholders and if the board knows better, how hedge funds evaluate and respond to governance provisions, and why activists value the ability of other shareholders to make these challenges.
