Katherine Mateo Speaks on HR Works’ “A Seat at the Table” Podcast on Fostering Belonging and Diversity in Law

Olshan Litigation Counsel Katherine Mateo appeared on an episode of “A Seat at the Table” podcast to discuss how diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) play in the legal industry. Kat explained that inclusion initiatives no longer need to happen behind closed doors— and they can happen organically and informally. She also added that attaining a “seat at the table” requires having your “elevator” pitch ready should you find yourself in the same room as decision-makers and says, “At that moment, you could spark a communication that would lead to a deeper relationship.” Kat also shared her personal story of coming to the United States from the Dominican Republic at a young age and translating documents for her family.
