New York Attorney General Settles with Chase to End Monthly Fees

Chase offered some credit cardholders promotional rates for balance transfers that clearly included a one-time transaction fee.

In November 2008 Chase unilaterally changed the terms and notified over 300,000 consumers that in January 2009 Chase was going to start charging an additional service fee of $10 per month.

In settling the matter with the New York Attorney General Chase agreed to cancel the $10 monthly service fee and refund approximately $4,400,000 that Chase had been charging.
